User Guidelines

Use of these types of products in white-water situations can be extremely dangerous. White-water usage should only be attempted by qualified boating personnel in a designed river craft, and not by those without the proper training, experience, or expertise.

Any water sport, whether on still or fast water, including the use of these products under any conditions, involve many risks including, but not limited to, those of grave injury, hypothermia or drowning. Water sports participants, including those who use a Water OtterĀ® product, are themselves responsible for aquiring sufficient knowledge and training to participate safely; are responsible for the excercise of good judgement in matching their choice of use of his/her craft with the level of training and experience possessed by each; and assume all risks of injury or drowning inherent in the activity in which each chooses to participate.

The Safe use of your water craft requires your attention to and compliance with, the following Safety Warnings :

  • Obtain instruction in the safe use of your craft, and practice using it safely in a controlled environment
  • Always wear a Coast Guard approved floatation device
  • Dress appropriately for water temperature and water weather conditions
  • Choose water conditions appropriate to your training, skill, experience, and craft limitations
  • Scout unfamiliar waters, and portage where appropriate
  • Follow manufacturer’s recommendations for the use of each product model
  • Always check your equipment for signs of wear, improper installation or failure
